Odin is a program that supports users to flash stock
firmware, custom firmware, kernels, recovery files or any root packages to
Samsung smartphones. On 13th May 2016 XDA developers has updated Odin software
releasing latest Odin 3.11.1 for their clients. Owners of Samsung phones can
download odin 3.11.1 new tool from XDA developers page. These are the instructions
to flash Samsung stock ROM/ original firmware using new odin 3.11.1.
How to flash Samsung official firmware through odin 3.11.1
Step 1 – Download and install device drivers on your
computer. Visit to the Samsung official website and find the correspondent
driver software or Google the driver software of your device, download and
install it on your computer next. Otherwise download or update Kies. Once you
installed or upgraded drivers, please restart your computer.
Step 2 – Now download the stock ROM/ official, original
firmware. After downloading, you need to unzip it to certain location of your
computer. You need to use .bin, .tar or .md5 file type. Unzip it to deskop.
Step 3 – Download Odin 3.11.1 new tool from XDA developers’
page. It provides complete details and odin download link for free of charge. Then
you need to extract the odin tool.
Step 4 – Now right click on the odin setup and click ‘Open
as Administrator’, because it will prevent certain issue from happening.
Step 5 – Boot your Samsung phone into ‘Download mode’. Here
is the step guide :
- Power off your phone.
- Press and hold ‘Volume Down’ key + Home key + Power key.
- When your device vibrates, leave only Power key.
- To enter download mode, click Volume up key.
Step 5 – Now make connection between your Samsung device and
computer through the USB cable. Odin will recognize your device automatically. It
can confirm with ‘Added’ message. You will see ‘COM:3’ in the ID:COM section.
Step 6 – Click on ‘PDA’ or ‘AP to add .tar or.md5 file.
After adding the file, click on ‘Start’ to begin the process. Do not plug out
your Samsung device from the computer until failed or finished message is
showed by odin.
Step 7 – When the process is completed, you will see a big
green box saying ‘PASS’. Now let to reboot your device. Then you can unplug
your device safely.
Troubleshooting
If odin 3.11.1 failed or stuck before reaching its ending,
what you should do? You can try those things before start the process again.
- Restart your computer and your phone/ Try different USB cable/ check and make sure that the firmware file is matching your device model or update your device driver software.
